Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs):
The Western Region Public Health Training Center at the University of Arizona’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, in collaboration with the UA College of Nursing, received a three-year HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) grant to expand sexual assault response services in rural areas of HRSA Region 9 (Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the United States Affiliated Pacific Islands). The main program objectives are to provide funding and support to train and certify nurses to be Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), increase the capacity to provide sexual assault services in rural and medically underserved areas, and create a SANE support app that addresses secondary trauma and burn-out. The resiliency content will be included in the SANE support app to help promote their coping, performance, and longevity in this important but challenging work.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Students:
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students often experience personal challenges and external demands while in school, have difficulty with time management and life balance, develop high levels of stress, feel overwhelmed, and consider leaving the program. Many students enter DNP programs after practicing as RNs, which may contribute to an underlying level of burnout and presenteeism and reduced well-being and resilience. A cohort of first-year DNP students received the resiliency content in an online course to help promote their academic, clinical, and professional performance.
