Post COVID-19, Anxiety and Hugs

We’ve all been “touch deprived” and its impact has had immediate consequences, both mentally and physically. Part of the “collective trauma” of the past year has been a certain level anxiety, even as we engage with friends and family that have practiced safety guidelines and been vaccinated. The best remedy is to push throw it. With people you feel safe with, we recommend 10 hugs a day, each lasting at least 20 seconds.

Michael Wm. Marks Ph.D., ABPP

Dr. Marks is currently a Professor of Practice in Psychology and Program Director of the Supportive Education for Returning Veterans at the University of Arizona. Dr. Marks was co-founder of Vietnam Veterans of Montana and has received the Disabled Americans Veterans Humanitarian Award. Dr. Marks has dedicated his career to working with trauma survivors, both military and civilian, adults and children, for the last 44 years.
